Designer Richard Konold has fallen for the magic of the circus ring. He presents a blue and white Teddy bear dressed as a circus clown, with enormous shoes, a red nose, a large stomach, a pointed clown's hat with pompoms, large made up eyes, red cheeks and a wide grin.

Several designs were produced before the designer got the combination of bear and clown just right. Now, along with the hat with pompoms, the bear is wearing a white shirt with red "buttons" and blue trousers that stretch across his large stomach.

Richard Konold was inspired to create this imaginative personification of his dreams by the famous Monaco Circus Festival which he saw on television. "I really liked the clowns and so got the idea of designing a very special clown Teddy bear", says Richard Konold, who has been contributing his ideas to Steiff's design work for 14 years now.
