Here is a sweet little antique bear, approximately 12 inches long, five way jointed and with a hump on his back. He originated from the local estate of an elderly lady, who described him as a Steiff and informed us that he had been part of her family for at least 100 years. She parted with him, in the hopes of having someone who could continue to look after him properly.

If there was a button in his ear, it is no longer there and, unfortunately, there was no provenance to accompany him. He looks as though he has been truly loved; everything on him is original, there do not appear to have been any attempts at repair. He retains quite a bit of his mohair on his back and legs. He appears to be stuffed with straw or excelsior?

And has what appear to be boot button eyes. He has been safely tucked inside of a glass china cabinet, in a teddy bear room, away from sunlight and dust and in a smoke free home. I will leave his identification and age to the experienced, antique teddy bear collectors. Please view the photos and feel free to ask any questions, which you may have.
