Early 1900s Antique Teddy Bear. With Lovely, Rare, Thick Black Wool Coat! Here's an opportunity to own a loved and. This 18 black mohair bear is looking for its next owner to love and cherish it! The bear has jointed arms, legs, and head and is filled with. A lovely orange snout and mouth are meticulously sewn by yarn. This bear is especially unique in that its thick wool coat is a black variant -- only a fraction of early Teddy Bears were made using black mohair! The white felt foot and arm pads contrast so nicely! The bear features long arms and legs and a football shaped body. These bears are commonly called "stick bears" because of the long, narrow appendages. While many manufacturers made similar stick bears around this time, this example appears most similar to that of the Ideal Novelty and Toy Company of New York. This bear is in WELL LOVED, VERY GOOD condition. The mohair coat is largely without significant wear. The joints are all strong, hold tightly, and spin well. The felt paws, especially the front paws, have worn through to the. There is some light surface wear to the snout area. The eyes are no longer present, lost to the ages of play and love.
