16EARLY AMERICAN ANTIQUE approx 1907 IDEAL TEDDY BEAR MOHAIR EXCELSIOR STUFFED. He is straw stuffed which unfortunately can be seen through a hole on the right side of his face.
He matches all the criteria for an early Ideal Toy Co. Ears set wide apart, wide forehead and a stitched nose giving his head a triangular shape. In addition their paws tend to be slightly pointed and had a plush mohair coat. This bears coat is no longer thick in places but the only hole is in his face as pictured.Early bears had black boot button eyes as this bear does. He also has the hump back and long curved arms. This bear has been in the family his whole life.
He spent most of it in a cedar chest. He is jointed on arms, legs and head and moves easily.
