Steiff 690778 Paddington Bear's Aunt Lucy Limited Edition Bear

Many years ago, upon finding themselves raising a bear cub, Lucy and Pastuzo realised that their dream of leaving Peru for London would be put on hold. Soon after, Pastuzo sadly lost his life due to injuries sustained during an earthquake that hit their home in deepest darkest Peru. The only reminder of him was his red bush hat, that the bear cub took for his own. The dream to go to London never fades for Lucy, but as time goes by her age is against her and she must settle for a'Home for Retired Bears' in Lima, but someone else can carry her dream forward. She remembers that in times past, children in England were sent by their parents to the country by train, as it was considered a safer option for them at the time.

To ensure their safety, labels were placed around their neck so that those strangers who found them, could take care of them. The cub is of course Paddington and Lucy is his beloved Aunt Lucy, who cared and raised him in darkest Peru. His letters to her in Lima, will bring London and his adventures right to her.

Aunt Lucy is 38cm/15 tall and fully jointed with flat feet, so that she can stand unaided. She has been sewn from a decadent mid-pile mohair with mixed toffee/caramel tipping upon dark cocoa and a cream accented muzzle. She has two-tone brown eyes, with smart hand stitched features, plus delicate hand applied shading for definition and detail, whilst her round, metal rimmed glasses hint to her age.

She wears a closed collar coat, with horned buttons, pockets and cuffs, sewn from a luxurious mottled cinnamon wool felt, with a wide brimmed black hat, worn jauntily over one ear complete with a decorative patterned white and cinnamon ribbon band, that holds a pretty yellow wool felt bloom, complete with colour shading. To finish a row of polished beads in cream, garnet red and amber resides around her neck, plus a realistic detailed umbrella with dark orange and caramel hues in its pattern completes her'together' look. Absolutely charming and a must for any Paddington fan.
