The viewer says the bear is rare but not Steiff. The viewer has written a couple books on the subject. So, I have researched this Bing Teddy Bears. The article I will quote in this description is from: Bing Bears Gebruder Bing Teddy Bear, History, Information.
All of the articles I looked at for identifying the Bing bear did not give me a clear picture to give you are really accurate identification of this bear. This was the closest I could find.
Hopefully if you are interested in the bear you know more about them than I do. This bear has no ear tag button or button on the arm or arm pit. This bear has and excelsior body. The eyes appear to me to be boot button eyes.
They do not look like glass eyes to me. The bear does have larger ears on the side of the head. It does have longer good quality mohair with a shaved muzzle. Or what I think is shaved. I think it has a longer muzzle.
The arms just barely extend beyond the hip joint so not as long as some Steiff bears. If you have more information on this bear or anything that would help me better make this listing please message me.
I asked the viewer who has some expertise in the Antique bears if they could provide me more information on the bear. The color is very rich , not exposed to light and that is near mint, lovely really museum quality , when metalic dyes are exposed they embrittle the mohair, and turn a non descript gold , the dark red color is prized by collectors and rare, the Bing co.Has grown in favor lately and although less red bings have survived people seem to love them. Also the noses are often shorn closer in all he years of appraising I have not seen an early red Bing in this great shape , good Luck!
