1905 Old Antique Steiff Jointed Donkey Eselin Soft Toy Teddy Bear Burlap Mohair

Circa 1905 rare Steiff jointed soft toy donkey. This early jointed Steiff donkey has been loved as you can see from the photos but he is a real character. With most of his original features intact and he is in overall strong condition with a few darned repairs and some.

Small holes in his backing fabric including one near his neck joint which could do with a few stitches to repair. He is five ways jointed so he can be nicely posed, wood wool stuffed and measures 8.5 long from his nose. To the base of his tail, which is 2.5" long and he stands at 6" tall. Dylan dates to circa 1905 and although he no longer has a button and in fact may never had one, he is.

Guaranteed to be an early Steiff toy. He is made from a burlap type material and would have had a mohair. Plush coverage but this is mostly missing with a just a few tiny tufts remaining here and there. Eyes are replacements and crudely sewn on but I think they suit him nonetheless and despite his loved. Condition and slight damages he is a rare toy and would make a fine addition to any Steiff or early toy.
